About this development
Expansion of Durban Car Terminal from the present 6500 parking spaces. The facility, which doubled the terminal's capacity to 6500 parking slots, was officially handed over to Sapo in April '04. Management was aware of growth trends that indicated the extension might reach capacity by 2007. The second expansion project, currently the subject of an environmental compliance study, will probably be a 4 000 parking bay, two-storey garage straddling existing rail lines. This means the facility will mainly handle cars transported by rail rather than road.
