About this development
Construction of the 5 main site buildings for a purpose built manufacturing plant in Gauteng for the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) and Gibela located north of Nigel, on Portion 23 of the farm Grootfontein 165-IR and east of Road R51. The first 20 trains in the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa’s ten-year, R51-billion deal to procure 600 new trains were shipped from Brazil by the end of 2015 and the remaining 580 trains of the contract will be manufactured at a new industrial park in Dunnottar, Nigel on the East Rand. CIDB 9: R130 million plus. Referred to as Package 2. GPS Co-ordinates 26°21’13.51”S 28°27’54.06”E. The five buildings include a training centre, a central complex of two buildings including offices and a canteen as well as utility buildings used for operational purposes such as a gate house.
