About this development
Construction of services and infrastructure for the Dr John Dube Memorial District Hospital in KwaZulu-Natal. The proposed four storey hospital will comprise 450 beds, with a development footprint of 29 500m². The basement level of the hospital will be utilized mainly for service departments, as well as the kitchen, crèche, laundry, mortuary, storage (for pharmacy, garden, engineering, etc.) and staff parking. The ground floor of the hospital will comprise Obstetrics (including antenatal and neonatal care as well as family planning), Accident and Emergency Services (Casualty), Pediatrics, Radiology (x-ray), the Outpatients Clinic, the Pharmacy, Rehabilitation, Psychiatry, Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and High Care, the Blood Bank and Laboratory, the Operating Theaters, Admissions and Security. The upper floors will house the wards and administration areas. The general surgical wards will be located on the first floor of the proposed hospital and the Tuberculosis (TB) wards will be located on the second floor. The hospital would also provide an antiretroviral (ARV) referral service to the Community Health Care ARV Clinic. A TB Clinic and TB Inpatient accommodation also forms part of the proposed hospital. The site on which the activity is proposed is approximately 9.7 hectares in extent and is situated on the corner of Main Road (MR) 93 and eThekwini Street No. 108781 in Goqakazi Township, Inanda F, Ward 56, eThekwini Municipality. The development site is located on portions 80 (of Erf 11); 81 (of Erf 11); 82 (of Erf 11); Remainder of Erf 113 and Erf 1220 (previously Erf 371 of 113) of the farm Groenberg No. 884. The property boundaries are located along the following co-ordinates: N 29° 40’ 34.68” S 30° 56’ 30.17” E; E 29° 40’ 47.13” S 30° 56’ 41.78” E; S 29° 40’ 53.71” S 30° 56’ 31.95” E; W 29° 40’ 43.37” S 30° 56’ 27.60” E.
