About this development
Construction of infrastructure for the proposed 'Decking of the Railways' project. This project will see the creation of a decking structure over railway lines to become a new residential and business development. Together with underused land between the core of the inner city and Braamfontein in Gauteng, once complete, will link Braamfontein with the inner city from a south-westerly direction as a new business and mixed-use residential node. The project will be phased over a period of 30 ears and the actual decking should commence around 2015. The overall project will consist of five precincts, namely the eGoli Design Centre, Newtown Development, Park Station transit-orientated development, Joubert Park precinct and the Doornfontein transit-orientated development consisting of the University of Johannesburg and the Coca-Cola Park sports precinct.
