Construction of a brick-manufacturing plant near the De Beers, Kimberley Mines operation, in the Northern Cape. The slime, or residue material produced during the diamond recovery process, will be used in the manufacturing of bricks. De Beers has identified a suitable site for the construction of the facility, which is in the Kimberley Mines mining area, for close and easy access to the fines residue disposal facility (FRDF), water, electricity and the N8 provincial road. However, an alternative site identified by bidders would also be considered.
