Cullinan C-Cut Expansion Programme

Petra Diamonds is undertaking an expansion programme on its Cullinan mine in Gauteng. The plan is to develop a new block cave on the western side of the Cullinan mine ore body which will access the higher grade BAW and AUC south areas and produce at a rate of two-million carats a year. This will be completed in a phased approach. Phase 1 will establish new tunnels on levels 747 and 732 and in the BA5 on level 30 to ensure underground production is maintained at current levels. Phase 2 will result in run-of-mine production rising to four-million tons a year (two million carats a year) by 2019.
