About this development
Construction of the Cornubia Boulevard Bridge north-bound carriageway at km 1 965. The Cornubia Boulevard Bridge project comprises of specialist bridge construction techniques and foundation methods. The bridge is a 4 span structure with a total length of 141.6m and is 25m above the valley floor at its highest position. The structure comprises of 35m long, post-tensioned precast beams, lifted into place, with a cast in situ deck slab. The bridge deck is supported on multi-column piers with capping beams, and wall type abutments. The substructure is founded on rock by means of cased auger piles with rock sockets. Mechanically stabilised earth walls support the approach fill. The site is accessed by means of existing sugar cane farm roads. There are no layerworks or asphalting included in this contract. This project is in the Province of KwaZulu-Natal and in the eThekwini Municipality. The exact co-ordinates are currently not available however the approximate area of location is: -29.715696, 31.063400. CIDB 8: R 40 Million - R 130 Million.
