About this development
Refurbishment and renovations of the Old Fort, No 4 & 5 prisons and the Women's jail. The site is located east and adjacent to Joubert Street, north and adjacent to Kotze Street and south of Sam Hancock Street. Hospital Street traverses along the south-eastern corner of the site in a north-south direction. The site borders the existing Constitutional Court along its eastern, southern and western boundaries. The site currently also accommodates the Constitution Square, Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory and Commemoration, the Governor's House and an existing electrical substation. The site is located within the centre of Hillbrow within the jurisdiction of City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality, Gauteng.
