Coke Plant Mittal Newcastle

Mittal Newcastle - coke oven replacement and associated repair works - Mittal plans to dismantle one of the decommissioned batteries, replace it with updated coke-oven technology and commission the new battery, consisting of 50 coke ovens, built on the understructure of the decommissioned battery. Current Estimates R450 million. About 34% of the coke oven battery and associated gas plant work would be undertaken by South African companies, with contracts worth about R150m. This will entail demolition activities, civil construction, installation of pipe work for the gas plant, material handling systems, electrical instrumentation and automation systems and the construction of ancillary plants, such as the biowater and reverse osmosis plants.
