About this development
The Bujagali project comprises a dam and a hydropower station of 250MW capacity on the Victoria Nile River near the Town of Jinja, in Uganda. It will be located 10km from the outflow of Lake Victoria, downstream of the existing Nalubaale and Kiira dams. Major project components include a power station housing five electricity-generating turbines, a dam and associated spillway, and a 388-ha water reservoir, most of which (308 ha) is already covered by the Victoria Nile river. The total budget for the scheme is $867-million.
