About this development
The Buffelsfontein project is a proposed tailings uranium and gold recovery operation located in the western portion of the Witwatersrand basin, in the North West Province. Expansion project at International Ferro Metals will include the construction of an Additional Shaft; Beneficiation, Sinter/Pelletising and Metal Recovery Plants; Bunkers; 3 x Closed Furnaces; Power Generation Plant and the Railway. The cost estimate has increased to R4.15 billion from the original cost estimate of R3.2 billion. The capital expenditure for the mine expansion will cost an estimated R455 million.
