About this development
The prefeasibility study for the Boseto project envisages an openpit mine, delivering 2 million tons of ore grading 1,3% copper and 15 g /t silver a year over an initial ten year life of mine, to a conventional flotation plant. The average plant production is estimated at 23 500 t/y of copper and 780 000 oz/y of silver, starting in January 2011. With respect to infrastructure, the plan is to self-generate power for the first year of operation and then connect to the Botswana power grid through an 80 km transmission line to the major regional town of Maun. Project Value: The project development costs are estimated at approximately $175 million.
