About this development
Moukhtara Holding Co. Ltd (Moukhtara) is planning an industrial and Free Processing Zone in Bonto, Gambia, 45 kilometres away from the Port of Banjul. In order to provide adequate power to this project, Moukhtara has conducted an extensive study, which determined coal to be the most cost effective fuel for the 12-megawatt Bonto Power Plant. Until the Bonto Industrial Zone (BIZ) is at full capacity the additional power generated by the facility is to be supplied to the state-owned power grid to supplement the National Water & Electricity Company's supply.
