Project overview
About this development
Proposed installation of a 400 mm gravity pipeline that will stretch from the proposed Blossoms Well field to the Old East Bank Reservoir (OEBR) in Oudtshoorn, in the Western Cape. The proposed pipeline will be about 23 km long and would transfer water from the well field to the OEBR. The proposed Blossoms Well field is located in the middle reaches of the Klip River. Shorter sections of pipeline, with an approximate diameter of 160mm, will then link the transfer pipeline with the various proposed borehole sites. The general route is proposed to stretch from the OEBR in Oudtshoorn to the proposed well field in the Blossoms area (in a southern direction). The route will start at the OEBR and run in a southern direction through the town of Oudtshoorn, to bypass the Oudtshoorn Golf Course and cross the N12 where after it will run within municipal road reserves and municipal property through the residential areas to exit the urban landscape in the proximity of the sewage treatment works. Here after the route will run between a number of farms and turn sharp left (in a western direction), to head for the N12 (running to George), to cross the N12 and then to continue further south, crossing the Olifants River by means of the old disused road bridge. Here after the route is proposed to follow on to a number of privately owned farms, including a game farm (i.e. Chandelier), to cross the Klip river at various points and to run along and/or cross the rail way line reserve, where after it will end at the Blossoms Well Field in the Blossoms area.
