About this development
Beeshoek Mine has investigated opportunities for the continued and sustainable mining of iron ore reserves within the approved mining rights area near Postmasburg, Northern Cape. This application specifically gives effect the following projects: Specific demarcation of run of mine stockpiles on South mine; Amendments to the rest of existing RDS in terms of the increase in height and allowance for final slope which will result in extension of footprints; Increase of Opencast Pit footprint areas, as well as the undertaking of detrital mining; Development of a Jig plant for the beneficiation of discard low grade iron ore; Development of a WHIMS plant for the benficiation of slimes; Upgrades to the water management circuit which will include additional water storage tanks and new inclusion of a railway line TFR link from Besehoek siding to the existing TFR railway line. The proposed new mining activities are located on the following farms: Portion 0 of the farm Beesthoek 448 RD; Portion 1 of the farm Beesthoek 448RD and Portion 4 of the farm Olynfontein 475 RD.
