About this development
Upgrading of the Bayside Canal from Blaauwberg Road to Rietvlei, Milnerton, Western Cape. The project value is R 69 172 805,00. The proposed project consists of two components: formalising the cross-section of the Bayside Canal between Blaauwberg Road and the canal outlet at the northwestern corner of Rietvlei and construction of a new stormwater treatment system at the canal outlet. This canal serves as the only storm water outfall culvert for a catchment area that includes a large portion of Tableview and West Beach, as well as large areas of Parklands and Sunningdale and it starts at Link Road and runs southwards adjacent to the road reserve to the east of the R27. The canal crosses Blaauwberg Road and ends at the north-western corner of Rietvlei, within the Table Bay Nature Reserve.
