Bafokeng Rasimone Platinum Mine, North Shaft Merensky Phase 3 Project

The project will significantly extend Merensky production levels ar the North Shaft, giving access to 1.41 million Merensky platinum, palladium, rhodium and gold ounces. The project provides further replacement of Merensky production at the North Shaft complex through the extension of the existing decline shaft by an additional five levels from Level 11 to Level 15. At steady state production, the project will contribute 70 000oz/y. Estimated project value: R1.409-billion. Project expenditure to date is R667million, with a budget of R781 million.
