Babanana Water Project Phase 1A

Construction of the Babanana Water Project RS 135, Phase 1A in Nkambako, Limpopo. contract value is R88 million. A new pipeline is required in order to urgently replace the existing dilapidated pipeline as well as the installation of a gravity (return) pipeline from the Musiphana reservoirs to the three villages of Nkambako, Ka-Mswazi and Mugwazini. The scope of works includes: (i) The construction of the DN300 X42 steel Musiphana bulk pipeline and the 160mm PN16 uPVC gravity return pipeline from the Musiphana reservoirs to the three villages (Nkambako, Ka-Mswazi and Mugwazini); (ii) The temporary placement of a 315mm ND HDPE PN16 to supply the Nkambako Villages during the construction of the portion from Nkambako WTW to R529 road; (iii) To refurbish the two existing 600kL concrete Musiphana reservoirs and (iv) The cathodic protection of the DN300 X42 steel Musiphana bulk pipeline from Nkambako WTW HLPS to the two 600kL Musiphana reservoirs. The Nkambako Pump Station and Musiphana Reservoirs coordinates are - Nkambako PS & WTW 23°44'59.42"S 30°29'27.67"E and Musiphana Reservoirs 23°42'59.68"S 30°26'04.98"E. The GPS marker has been placed at the Nkambako WTW.
