Avontuur Manganese Mine, Northern Cape

Aquila's Avontuur project area is located in the Northern Cape Province of South Africa near the towns of Kathu and Hotazel. Kathu is approximately 520 kilometres south-west of Johannesburg and Hotazel 68 kilometres north of Kathu. On both targets, Aquila has intersected significant zones of manganese mineralisation with high grade levels, typical of the Wessels type ore found in the Kalahari Manganese Field. The Gravenhage Manganese Deposit is situated at the northern end of Avontuur, approximately 30km north of the Kalahari Manganese Field. The project will comprise an open-pit operation and a processing plant. The mine will eventually be developed underground by decline access from the final openpit.
