About this development
The Aukam Graphite Mine is located on the Aukam farm 104, Bethanie district, 55km South Weest of Gaogeb in the Karas region in southern Namibia. The only historical graphite producer in Namibia, it produced 25,000 tonnes of graphite periodically between 1940 and 1974. The graphite occurs within a shear zone within the Namaqua Complex High grade vein type deposit, with a medium to large flake distribution. It is located 120 miles from the Port of Luderitz. The project will involve underground mining, reclamation of existing surface stockpiles from prior mining, screening and hand sorting on site and transportation of sorted graphite ore to a warehouse processing facility in Luderitz.
