About this development
Installation of a power generating plant using excess furnace by-product gases for ArcelorMittal South Africa Limited, Vanderbijlpark, Gauteng. The project will include the following: Construction of gas equalization and storage tanks for handling Blast Furnace Gas (BFG), Basic Oxygen Furnace Gas (BOFG) and Coke Oven Gas (COG). The construction of a reticulation system for the proposed ArcelorMittal power generating plant. The construction of a new 130MW power generating plant within the ArcelorMittal property and 132kV substation. The auxiliary equipment will consume approximately 10MW with the resulting net capacity of the plant being 120MW usable electricity.
