About this development
Construction of the Altair Solar Park on Portion 5 and Portion 11 of the farm Olyven Kolk 187 located within the Kai !Garib Local Municipality, ZF Mgcawu District Municipality, Northern Cape. The project site is located between 29 and 38km south-west of Kenhardt. The solar park will comprise of photovoltaic modules, mounting systems for the PV arrays and related foundations, internal cabling and string boxes, DC/AC inverters, medium voltage stations, hosting LV/MV power transformers, control buildings, workshops and warehouse, on-site high-voltage substation with 22/33kV/132kV step-up transformers and a 132kV busbar (switching station) with metering and protection devices, one battery storage system (BESS) with a maximum export capacity up to 240 MW, electrical system and UPS devices, lighting system and grounding system, access roads, internal roads, fencing of the site, alarm and video-surveillance system and water access points, water supply pipelines and water treatment facilities. The solar park will have a contracted capacity of up to 240MW and will cover approximately 480ha. The GPS has been estimated at Farm Olyven Kolk 29°29'52.3"S 20°51'05.7"E
