About this development
Construction of a full scale Activox plant for the refining process which removes the smelting step and enables LionOre to become a vertically-integrated nickel producer – from mine to metal, at Tati Nickel in Botswana. The Activox project will substantially enhance the economics of Tati Nickel. Annual nickel production will nearly double to 22 000t/y, resulting in a fivefold increase in total nickel production of 236 000t over the course of the anticipated 11 years life-of-mine. Total cost estimated at $636 million. $482 million for the Activox base metal refinery, $114 for the DMS plant upgrade to the Tati concentrator and $24 million for the power infrastructure installation.
