Project overview
About this development
The project involves the dualisation of Accra – Takoradi Road in Ghana, West Africa. The 185 km Accra-Takoradi Highway connects major towns in the southern, western and central regions of Ghana, an area of 4.0 million inhabitants, to Accra. The project will dualise the entire length of the road and shall be paid for through tolling revenues. A private party will be tendered to design, finance, and construct new portions of the highway, or to expand existing structures such as traffic lanes, interchanges, toll plazas and bridges. The party will maintain the road, collect toll revenue, and develop measures to prevent road closures due to obstructions on the roadway. Improved traffic along the highway will increase agricultural and manufacturing productivity in the region, and will increase the shipping capacity of Takoradi Port. The GPS co-ordinates are 4.8908036, -1.7577983
