About this development
Construction of a 4 000 MW nuclear power plant, on approximately 31ha for all the infrastructure. State power utility, Eskom has identified three potential building sites for a possible second nuclear power plant in South Africa. The three potential sites are: Bantamsklip in the Western Cape, about 10km southwest of Pearly Beach; Duynefontein next to the existing Koeberg nuclear power plant; and Thyspunt, close to Cape St Francis in the Eastern Cape (to be known as Nuclear 1). Project value: R100 and R120 billion.
