2ML Mooikoof Mega City Reservoir

Construction of the 2ML Mooikoof Mega City Reservoir located on 44 Charles Street, Grootfontein Country Estates, Pretoria, Gauteng. The project involves construction of a new 2ML potable water cast In-situ reinforced concrete reservoir with associated pipework, chambers and drainage on the existing Grootfontein Reservoir site. The reservoir has an internal diameter of 22.5m, 300mm thick walls of height 5.5m, 16 no circular 350mm diameter columns, 200mm thick floor and roof. The reservoir has a bottom inlet pipe of 200mm diameter, outlet pipe of 300mm diameter, 200mm diameter overflow and 160mm diameter scour pipe. A reinforced concrete control chamber is situated at the in- and outlet pipelines with associated isolation, control valve and water meters. A reinforced concrete overflow chamber is situated at the scour and overflow pipe positions draining via a new 300mm dia stormwater pipe to the nearest drainage system. Minor amendments and extensions of supply and feeder pipework is required to adjust the municipal water network. Four different municipal water connections are anticipated. Associated works with regards to Municipal reservoir: excavate and remove residual shale up to soft rock shale at average depth of 800mm. Installation of 2x110mm dia communication sleeves. Associated works with regards to water scope: Installation of short lengths of uPVC pipes to connect to existing pipe network and four (4) water connections to the existing network.
