About this development
Construction of a 240MW Onderstepoort Solar 1 photovoltaic project located approximately 10km west of Rasimone and 30km north-west of Rustenburg’s Central Business District and falls within Ward 1 of the Rustenburg Local Municipality, in the North West. Scope of works could include: PV panel arrays, which are the sub systems which convert incoming sunlight into electrical energy, PV modules and mounting structures which will consist of either Monofacial or Bifacial PV panels, mounted on either fixed-tilt, single-axis tracking, and/or double-axis tracking systems. Inverters and transformers. Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) area up to 5ha. Operation and Maintenance buildings including a gate house and security building, control centre, offices, warehouses and workshops for storage and maintenance. Temporary construction laydown area up to 7ha. Permanent laydown area up to 1ha (to be located within the area demarcated for the temporary construction laydown). Internal roads will be up to 6m wide, to allow access to the Solar PV modules for operations and maintenance activities. Main Access Road is up to 8m wide. GPS coordinates -25.4268745, 27.0054776.
