Construction of the 36km strategic road from Morebeng to D11 in Tshabelane is set to resume following the introduction of a new service provider.

The road project from gravel to tar spanning Mopani and Capricorn Districts, was stalled for a while following challenges experienced during its implementation with the appointed contactor, who has since been terminated.

Limpopo Public Works and Infrastructure MEC Nkakareng Rakgoale introduced the new contractor to stakeholders including Executive Mayor of Mopani District, Pule Shayi and Mayor of Greater Letaba Local Municipality, Dagma Mamanyoha on Thursday.

The long overdue upgrades include construction of two bridges and repair of one including installation of road signs and road markings.

Rakgoale says the project, which is estimated to take 7 months to complete, will provide much needed relief for motorists and road users and also create work opportunities for local SMME’s and labourers.
